| Trekking routes in Eastern Nepal brings you close to
Kanchanjunga, the Third highest mountain in the world,
base camp of mount Makalu and eastern approach to Mount
Everest. The ares has hot, rices growing districts and
also encompasses the cooler tea- growing region of Ilam.
The heavily populated middle hills are gouged by the mighty
Arun Kosi, which has cut through them at an elavation
of less than 400m. The majore mountain massifs of Kanchanjunga
and Makalu flank the Arun River. The Trekking routes are
less touristed but are long and need proper arrangement.
A complete camping gears with kitchen crews and porters
are necessary to trek in this region. |

| Kanchanjunga
Trek (22 Days) |
Kanchanjunga is the third highest mountain
in the world. This trek leads you to spectacular high
altitude scenery on the north side of Kanchanjunga.
The trek is started from Basantpur, which is a large
bazaar at 2200m on a ridge above the Tanmaya Khola,
with a view of entire Kanchanjunga massif. Basantpur
is accessible from Kathmandu-Biratnagar flight or Kathmandu-
Dharan direct bus followed by a local bus ride. The
itinerary goes as follow. |

or Dharan, you will take a local bus to Basantpur to

| Kanchanjunga

| Kanchenjunga is one of the most remote and
beautiful areas in Nepal which, unused to foreign visitors,
still lies shrouded in mystery. The features of the walk
in are pleasant villages then in the high regions, glorious
mountains and abundant wildlife. This includes musk deer,
blue sheep and, for the believer, the Yeti! Magnificent
views of Everest, Makalu and the Kanchanjunga massif will
make the trip memorable. |
